SordidSam, I'm not sure what persona you are using in your solution. I'm thinking about the user and what they'd be willing to do. The solution shared implies quite a bit work on the user's end, some unnecessary tab pollution, and requires the user to exit 101soundboards' site, which, I'm assuming, the soundboard team would prefer a user not to do.

The average user wouldn't want to go through the process you described. Having a soundboard favorites section makes the user's experience on the site easier and more enjoyable.

edit: I can recognize that this is a valid solution if this was a personal project and you want things to be done as simply and as barebones as possible. However, I'm not sure that's the direction this team wants to go. But if it is, then your solution is by far the best.

Why not just copy the link into an email draft, you can then copy and paste them into a browser tab, you could have more than one tab.
